How to plan a surprise proposal at Castello Di Amorosa

At Peter Cafaro Photography, we specialize in proposal photography in the beautiful Napa Valley. Our goal is not only to capture the moment but to create a memorable experience that you and your partner will cherish forever. With the never ending list of wine country engagement locations, it can get overwhelming to narrow down the right spot. That’s why we’re here to help you navigate your proposal at one of the most popular engagement locations in Napa Valley.

Castle of Love

One of our favorite locations for proposal and engagement photography is the enchanting Castello Di Amorosa. This 14th century, Tuscan-inspired castle is a dream backdrop for your special moment. With its sprawling 30 acres of vineyards, rolling foothills, and artfully crafted architecture, Castello Di Amorosa offers endless opportunities for breathtaking photos. The castle itself is a medieval masterpiece, complete with a moat, drawbridge, courtyards, chapel, and even stables. Inside, you'll find stunning rooms like the Great Hall, adorned with hand-painted Italian frescoes, and the Grand Barrel Room, an architectural wonder spanning 12,000 square feet. Whether you prefer the castle's exterior or its exquisite interior, Castello provides a truly magical setting for your surprise proposal in Napa Valley.

Location, Location, Location.

This majestic property offers endless locations to get down on one knee. Two of the most popular proposal sites include the North Tower and in front of the castle, in and amongst the vineyards. Enchanting, private, and exclusive are just a few words to describe the intimacy and wow factor that the North Tower provides for surprise proposals. Not only is it the highest point in all of Castello, but the location itself is not accessible to the public unless booked through Castello's hospitality department, making it that much more special for you and your future fiancé. Alternatively, you can propose on the property grounds, surrounded by picturesque vineyards with the panoramic castle as your backdrop - it doesn’t get more Napa Valley than that! If you choose the north tower, Castello Di Amorosa will customize the proposal setup to match your preferences and even provide some special offerings to enhance the moment. For all other locations, Peter Cafaro Photography can assist you with all the logistics to ensure the proposal goes off without a hitch.

Time

Regarding timing, we have two recommendations for proposals at Castello Di Amorosa. Firstly, weekdays are ideal to avoid the crowds that gather on weekends. On weekends, it’s less likely to have the much desired intimate ambiance as the property is quite popular. Secondly, the best time for proposal and engagement photos is during the late afternoon, preferably the hour leading up to sunset. Known as the "golden hour”, this time of day offers soft, flattering lighting for absolutely stunning photographs. If you plan your proposal during summer, you may be able to arrange a tasting reservation during the last hour of the day, allowing for fewer crowds and the perfect lighting for your photos.

Final Touch

Of course, no proposal in Napa Valley is complete without celebrating by popping a bottle open. At Castello Di Amorosa, you can toast to your future together with a glass of local wine. If wine doesn't suit your taste, don't worry. Napa Valley is full of picturesque spots where you can pop the question. With its romantic atmosphere and incredible views, this region offers everything you need to create the magical proposal your partner has always dreamed of. Let Peter Cafaro Photography capture the love and joy of your surprise engagement with stunning photographs that will forever remind you of this unforgettable moment.

To make your proposal come to life at Castello Di Amorosa, a tasting reservation is required for each person in your party in order to access the property.
